Overview

What the Beihai Coast & Weizhou Island is

Warm shallow sea, a long sandy beach and a volcanic island two hours offshore. Seafood handled the halal way at Muslim-run restaurants, with no alcohol on the premises and no pork in the kitchen.

This is a private departure, not a shared coach. You choose the dates, we rebuild the 5 days around them: Beihai, Nanning, in that order, with the halal restaurants and the mosques placed first and the sightseeing fitted around them.

The halal guarantee on this route: every restaurant is a certified halal restaurant with no pork and no alcohol on the premises. We send the full list with addresses before you fly, and your guide re-checks each booking the day before you eat there. Guilin and Nanning both have mosques with regular congregations, and halal restaurants nearby. Yangshuo's Muslim community is small, so on Yangshuo days we confirm the current halal options before your trip and, if needed, arrange a mosque visit in Guilin or a prepared halal meal in Yangshuo. Your guide carries a prayer mat and keeps the day's salah times in the vehicle.

Cities

Every city this route passes through

Each one with what you actually see there, what you eat, where you pray and how you arrive.

Beihai (Guangxi)

1 full day · April to November for the sea. July to September is typhoon season, so keep one buffer day.

A Gulf of Tonkin port city with a long sandy beach, an old colonial and merchant quarter, and the ferry pier for Weizhou island. Warm sea, cheap seafood and a slow pace.

Silver Beach — A long, shallow, clean beach on the south side of the city, with a promenade and sunsets over the water.
Weizhou island — A volcanic island two hours offshore, with a church, basalt cliffs, banana plantations and very good snorkelling in summer.
Beihai old street — A kilometre of arcaded colonial-fronted shophouses, rebuilt and now full of teahouses and small museums.
Seafood is the draw and we handle it the halal way: Muslim-run seafood restaurants in the city, fish and prawns only, and no alcohol on the premises. Plus Hui beef and lamb kitchens inland.
Beihai mosque — A small mosque in the city serving the Hui community. On Weizhou island we plan prayer at the guesthouse.
Beihai Fucheng (BHY) airport, high-speed rail from Nanning in about 90 minutes.

Nanning (Guangxi)

1 full day · October to April. Summers are hot, humid and wet; the winter is mild and green.

The provincial capital, green and subtropical, with a Zhuang majority and a small but established Hui community. The gateway for the southern border routes and the Detian falls.

Qingxiu mountain — A large landscaped hill park inside the city, with palm avenues, a pagoda and a Buddhist temple. Best in the cool of the early morning.
Nanning mosque — The main Hui mosque, active and central, with a halal restaurant street beside it.
Guangxi Museum of Nationalities — A good, quick introduction to the Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Dong cultures of the province before you drive out to see them.
Hui halal restaurants near the mosque, plus Zhuang dishes prepared halal: rice noodle soups, steamed chicken and beef offal hotpot. Fewer choices than Guilin, all pre-checked.
Nanning mosque — Central and active, with wudhu. Jumuah is straightforward.
Nanning Wuxu (NNG) airport, high-speed rail from Guangzhou in about three and a half hours.
Day by day

How the 5 days actually run

A working skeleton, not a fixed package. We rebuild it around your dates, your prayer needs and whoever is travelling with you.

1

Arrive in Beihai

Beihai Fucheng (BHY) airport, high-speed rail from Nanning in about 90 minutes. Your Muslim guide meets you at the gate with your name on a board. First stop is a hotel we have placed within walking distance of Beihai mosque, so Maghrib is a short walk rather than a negotiation. Dinner is already booked at a halal kitchen we have audited.

2

Beihai — Silver Beach

A long, shallow, clean beach on the south side of the city, with a promenade and sunsets over the water.

3

Beihai to Nanning

Leave after Dhuhr and drive out. Nanning Wuxu (NNG) airport, high-speed rail from Guangzhou in about three and a half hours. Your guide breaks the drive for salah and for food rather than at a service station of his choosing. You arrive in time for Maghrib at Nanning mosque.

4

Nanning — Qingxiu mountain

A large landscaped hill park inside the city, with palm avenues, a pagoda and a Buddhist temple. Best in the cool of the early morning.

5

Depart from Nanning

A last halal breakfast, then the transfer out. Nanning Wuxu (NNG) airport, high-speed rail from Guangzhou in about three and a half hours. We hold the vehicle until your flight is called, and if you are fasting we send a breakfast box the night before.

Every day is salah-first. Beihai, Nanning each have mosques we have used before; on the driving legs your guide breaks the journey at prayer time rather than at a service station of his choosing.

Weizhou island

A volcanic island two hours offshore, with a church, basalt cliffs, banana plantations and very good snorkelling in summer.

Certified halal restaurants only, every single meal

No pork on the premises, no alcohol on the premises, and the full list with addresses in your inbox before you fly.

Prayer planned into every day

Salah is placed first and sightseeing is built around it, not the other way round. Your guide carries a mat, a compass and a prayer-time sheet.

Halal food

What you eat, city by city

No pork on the premises, no alcohol on the premises, and no kitchen that handles both. This is the part we audit in person.

Beihai

Seafood is the draw and we handle it the halal way: Muslim-run seafood restaurants in the city, fish and prawns only, and no alcohol on the premises. Plus Hui beef and lamb kitchens inland. Beihai mosque is nearby, so you can pray and eat on the same street.

Nanning

Hui halal restaurants near the mosque, plus Zhuang dishes prepared halal: rice noodle soups, steamed chicken and beef offal hotpot. Fewer choices than Guilin, all pre-checked. Nanning mosque is nearby, so you can pray and eat on the same street.

Fasting? Tell us and we run the route in Ramadan: suhoor boxes delivered before Fajr, slow afternoons, and iftar confirmed at a halal restaurant every single night.
Prayer

Where you pray on this route

Not a list of every mosque in the province — the ones we actually build into this itinerary, with wudhu and women’s space confirmed.

Beihai mosque

Beihai

A small mosque in the city serving the Hui community. On Weizhou island we plan prayer at the guesthouse.

Pray in the city, and for the island night we book a guesthouse where you can pray privately. The ferry schedule is built around leaving after Dhuhr.

Nanning mosque

Nanning

Central and active, with wudhu. Jumuah is straightforward.

One main mosque in the city and prayer rooms at the major service areas on the Detian road. Long drives are broken around prayer times anyway.

On the road: your guide carries a prayer mat, a compass and a prayer-time sheet calculated for your exact dates, and stops the vehicle rather than the prayer.

FAQ

Questions travellers ask us every week

It is private. There is no seat-in-coach departure and no joining other travellers — the vehicle, the guide and the 5 days belong to your party alone. You pick the start date and we build around it. That is also why the halal logistics work: a kitchen booking for four people is a conversation, not a contract.
Every restaurant on this route is a certified halal kitchen with no pork and no alcohol on the premises. In Beihai, Nanning we use: Seafood is the draw and we handle it the halal way: Muslim-run seafood restaurants in the city, fish and prawns only, and no alcohol on the premises; Hui halal restaurants near the mosque, plus Zhuang dishes prepared halal: rice noodle soups, steamed chicken and beef offal hotpot. You receive the complete list with street addresses before you fly, and your guide re-confirms each booking the day before you eat there.
Beihai mosque in Beihai (A small mosque in the city serving the Hui community. On Weizhou island we plan prayer at the guesthouse.); Nanning mosque in Nanning (Central and active, with wudhu. Jumuah is straightforward.). On the driving legs your guide breaks the journey at prayer time. Every vehicle carries a prayer mat, a compass and a sheet of prayer times calculated for your exact dates.
This is our gentlest pacing: short legs, one base at a time, and most days are a city day rather than a road day. Beihai · Nanning are spread over 5 days, so you are never in the vehicle long enough to lose a prayer.
Yes, and we do it often. Suhoor boxes are delivered to your hotel before Fajr, afternoons are kept slow, iftar is confirmed at a certified halal restaurant every night, and we find you a mosque for Taraweeh wherever you happen to be. If you want to spend the last ten nights or Eid in one city, tell us and we will re-cut the route around it.
International flights and Chinese visas are quoted separately. Travel insurance, personal shopping, optional activities outside the plan and tips are not included — and we do not add shopping stops to make up the difference. Everything listed under What is included is genuinely in the price.
